That is an incredible story. Hans, thanks for documenting it for all of us. It really helps to see the original yamadori stock as you found it. For newer enthusiasts like me it helps us to see the bonsai in a wild tree. Your years of patience sets a great example. I know I will refer to this thread again.

G'day Hans...
What a masterful documentary of the collecting and designing of a bonsai...a truly magnificent subject...outstanding artistry! What a sweet example of what a bonsai artist can do partnering with Mother Nature. You can't touch that with nursery stock...unless you have 100 years, or more, to work on it! Then, even if you did have 100 years, you couldn't match Mother Nature. Great work Hans... Pat |

Hans,
I'm not sure why you changed the venue to tell the ongoing story, but I am going to link to it here. What a wonderful piece of work and documentation! http://bonsainut.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1145 Chris Johnston |

Inspiring
Wow Hans,
For a new comer its really inspiring to see the journey of this collected tree from where it has been to what it has become thus far. Its great to see the result of your vision and hard work that has carried this Larch from the wild on its way to becoming bonsai. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your future post. |
