The price is right

I always see on the forum people pointing out they can't find great trees localy and want to know where to get some. I figured I would point out a good opportunity on a large ficus tree from one of our own members. If I wasn't broke making car payments I would snatch this up in a heart beat.

182 views at this point, still no bids. However there are still 14 days to the close. It will be interesting to see how bidding progresses, closer to the close of bidding.

This is not without it's challenges, but a very nice piece of material. There seems to be a lot of potential for the price. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

Even though I don't mean to I will probably scratch a few nerves when I say there is probably a reason the tree has many views and no bids.

My guess would be first that the average bonsaitalker having between 1 and 3 years under their belt doesn't know enough yet to pick out good material. Or that if Mr. Andy would get some real trees like over priced junipers and Japanese pines he would get a better reaction. Hmmm, maybe we should start a poll to get to the bottom of this.

Hows that for scratching a few nerves?

No need to get angry or send Andys resume to me. I am fully aware of Andys credentials and he has my utmost respect. He has some very fine trees as I have said here before. I only stated what I believe to be the truth which is borne by the lack of a bid on that particular tree. Is there another explanation as to why so many people have looked at it without a offering a bid? And if I'm not mistaken the same tree was offered previously for even more money without a bid option. There is usually a very good reason for a tree of this stature not selling quickly at the price offered here.

I am not angry nor did I send you anything..anything at all.

I must be seeing further into the the tree than one should. I see a large powerful trunk ready for branches to be cut back and re grown, to build the large spreading canopy. I understand there is no road cone taper or curves but this style of tree needs none of those.

I know what it is, it reminds me of one of the 400 year old world Salem style oak trees.

Sauce,

You won't ruffle my feathers. What do you think is the reason for no takers?I think it's pretty good stock, but then I may be prejudiced.I'd like to see the auction site here take off.But it seems there is not much action.

I think that it is excellent stock, if we could get it into Calif. I would be likely to bid on it. But I'm not willing to bring anything in illegally.

Rmember, too, that some people wait until the auction is nearly finished to bid. Rather than run the price up immediately.
