Hi Dale, That sounds like a great idea. Why can't you put a minimum bid price on it that covers your S&H and donate any amount over that? I think the reason some of the pots in the auction haven't been selling is due to the fact that they are made in the U.K. Wallsal/Ian, Tony Remington, and John Pitt have been the only potmakers I'm aware of who have put handmade pots up for bid. This makes them somewhat cost prohibitive for those of us in the U.S due to shipping prices. I did purchase a pot from Tony which I really wanted but paid almost as much for shipping as the pot cost. It was worth it to me but maybe not so for others. I've been waiting for stateside artists to offer up some pots since I am still looking. Never know it may sell for more than you anticipated.

There were some Sarah Rayner pots sold earlier on, and they were a nice deal. They went for under their ordering price, if you checked on her site. But they weren't sold by the artist herself, they were being sold by a customer of hers.

The tools also seem to be a very good value. For those people who aren't near a tool dealer and can't get to a convention, buying tools by auction may be a very good way to go.

You might also consider buying something and donating it to your club auction. Most clubs have some sort of auction to raise money and members are encouraged to donate nice things.

The auction is full of great deals right now.

For instance, this charming pot with a lovely glaze can come to a US buyer for less than $20.00, including shipping. Also less than twenty dollars is this nice pair of shears, perfect for you beginners that don't have a pair yet!

For less than $6.00 you could have this book for beginners, something to read on those long, cold winter nights when you aren't able to work on your trees. That's pretty inexpensive! Bet a mom or wife would love to know about it! Stocking stuffer!!

If you are the only bidder you could have this really intriguing magazine for $10.00! 152 pages of Japanese bonsai. It's such a good idea to look at lots of bonsai 'forms' to educate your eye.

For $1.50 you could be stratifying Japanese Maple "Nomura" seeds for spring, you get about a dozen seeds. In a couple of years you could have a fine little maple forest planting to gaze on with delight.

All of the above quoted prices INCLUDE SHIPPING!!

In case you haven't been looking, those are just a few of the good deals you can get right now!

I have made several purchases from the auction and I have been very pleased with the prices and items received. As someone mentioned earlier I was not ripped off on shipping like many of the Bigger Auction sites. (I won't mention EBay's name k?) If you haven't looked at whats available there, you should...
