The therapeutic value of bonsai.

The therapeutic value of bonsai.

Would I have been John Lennon today, feeling like I did. I would have written “Mother” or “Imagine”!

Would I have been a sculptor: my frustrations would be carved out off the hardest stone, showing how I felt when I created it, until the end of times for the world to see!!

Would I have been a poet: my fears and doubts revealed on to paper, would have brought tears to teenage girls eyes for years to come!

Even my dispaires, transformed in to paint on canvas! Would out “Scream” Eduard Munch his painting!

But instead off all that: I had to express my emotions to day in to my bonsai art! So “with a lot of facial expression ” I cut off the old copper wire off a pine branch,...it then, decided to jump right back in to its old position it had, before it took me 4 hours to wire it 2 years ago! So to commemorate this passionate and emotional driven artistic endeavor: I turned that ***** branch in to a jin ! More in the line of how I feel today, so to say! A stump of broken dead wood....my gift to the world of Art!

I think: that the therapeutic value of expressing ones feelings in the Art of Bonsai , are highly overrated!

I'm not smiling at your misfortune Hans...but at your eloquence.

The jin was obviously destined to be.

Mr. Hans,

Thank you for making my day...I have no doubt we all experience moments of frustration in our art...But to express it in such words and thoughts, I must say "BRAVO" Mr. Hans...

Regards
Behr

Tears

I'm not a teenage girl, but your poetry brought tears to my eyes - tears of laughter. You are soooo not alone!

My most frustrating day was spent breaking every branch on a tree I was trying to wire. Jin was not an option. A bottle of gin would have been a better way to spend my time.

Love reading any and all of your posts.

Hi! According to this site I am neophite on Bonsai. I have only 18 years doing it. However, at this point I agree with you. Every bonsai transmite me a relaxing energy: cleaning it, prunning, or just getting lost into the small tree. Like a child enjoying the tree shadows or the montain (in the case of forest or suisekis).
