Misleading my wonderful wife?

My wife just called on her cell phone from a Bonsai nursery somewhere in the L.A.,California area. She's there on business while I'm home defending the ranch from subzero temperatures and an upcoming winter storm warning!
She wanted to know what trees would survive in our home for the duration of the winter.
A gentleman in the background with an Asian accent was the recipient of this information.
She sensed the excitement in my voice and quickly added
"You have to wait for Santa!"
"That’s not very nice!" I whined.
An imitation of our 3-year-old son when things aren't going his way.
We both laughed.
"Is there anything else I should tell him?" She asked sarcastically.
An admission that the surprise had been lost.
"Yeah!" I said sheepishly.
"Tell him TAPER!"
"What?" she chuckled inquisitively.
"Just tell him Taper is very important." again I reiterated slyly.
"OK, goodbye" she said.
This time only I laughed.

I can't wait to hear the story when she gets home.
I wonder what price range of trees he started showing her?

Patrick

P.S. I'm lucky to have a wife who supports my obsessive hobbies.

"By golly," says the club president, "That's the most serious tapir I've seen in a long time...."

Patmac shakes his head. "How was I to know she was at the bonsai booth at the LA Zoo?" He sighs deeply. "She expects me to take it everywhere. And it isn't housebroken."

The club members stand uneasily, considering whether to laugh or to feel sorry for him.

"Not housebroken? Bummer, man. What does it eat?"

"Well," says Patmac with a sigh, "So far three elms, two maples, five cotoneasters and all the bark from our favorite cherry tree."

Ahhh!
Joanie
That’s not very nice!

But funny.

After I hung up I could picture the guy in the Bonsai nursery pointing my wife towards a tree with the most unbelievably magnificent reverse taper.

Patmac man, you need to educate your woman. Through osmosis my GF has probably learned the Latin name for every specie of tree conducive to bonsai training and all she does is look at pictures of trees while explain why each one is perfect. I bet she would be a great bonsaist if she didn't hate it so much because all I do talk about bonsai.

You're lucky though, I asked her to get me book with pictures for christmas and she got me a scarf and hat
