Bonsai Show Errupts In Chaos! (Dateline: California)
Reuters News Service reported that a quiet California city errupted in chaos and violence early today. It seems that a bonsai exhibition was being held and things were going well when the whole scene disintegrated into an ugly clash between newbies and adepts.
"One minute things are just great;" one witness recalled... "the trees are beautiful, everyone is enjoying the beauty and getting along just fine, when up pulls a few SUV's, out jumps a few experienced bonsai artists with their nice bonsai and it ruined everything." The poor man began to sob. It seems that these adept ruffians, led by one Walter Pall, crashed this peaceful bonsai exhibition and actually began to display their own trees, which they had brought in their SUV's. "Of all the nerve," observed one witness, "To actually show up with their quality bonsai and then just put them next to our trees. I'm outraged! Clearly at this point, the bonsai exhibition was ruined. All of the original exhibitors, after having prepared for days, had to pack it in and remove their trees. "I mean, there's no reason for these adepts to go mixin' with us. They should keep to their own kind, I says." Fumed one angry exhibitor. The outrageous and malevolent exhibition of these adepts' trees was not enough, by some accounts. There are unconfirmed reports that one individual, identified as Andy, actually began to set fire to some of the trees in the exhibit, just to make room for his own trees (which weren't all that good according to some). This was fairly indicative of the horrible behavior of these ruffians as they began to show their bonsai in the midst of what was once a peaceful exhibit. Yes, this is the kind of horror and chaos that can happen when newbies and adepts mix. There's no reason for it, but it happens. We've got to stop this kind of senseless exhibition where newbies trees and those of more experienced enthusiasts are exhibited in the same place. No good can come of it. One newbie exhibitor said, as he walked away in tears, "It's just not right. It's just not right. Now I'll never be able to show my trees." Skippy Manfredsinjinsen Freelance reporter |

Am I correct in thinking that this is in light of the arguments in the suggested SHOW thread? A ficticious portrayal?

Andy,
The quality of work that you and other talented artists do is what I aspire to. You are great educators and examples. I respect your experience, but what do you have against California and new bonsai artists? We have opinions too! I'm not afraid to place any of my trees up against anyone else's. I'd welcome the comments so that I could learn and "grow" along with my trees! Lesley ![]()

Amen and pass the cornbread! This is a great attitude and the only logical, productive and relevant one. We're talking about a BONSAI show not a people show. With this attitude, Lesley, you will no doubt quickly receive lots of good criticism, information and help. Further, it is clear that your mind is concerned with the right issues. Those who relegate themselves to over-concern about not looking bad and about their respective skill level as indicated by their trees never will. I'm glad that someone gets it. ;-) Kind regards, Andy Rutledge zone 8, Texas |

Bad taste in humor
Andy I understand that you were trying to use fictious humor to make a point.
Point taken, not very funny. Glenn

Andy,... there is no doubt that you can spin a yarn far far better than (this) next guy (or gal). I would not even attempt to top your effort... hell, I couldn't even equal it.....
Oh yea... does this mean that my Sunday Morning Football team should give it a go against the NFL? Hey we sure could learn a thing or two. I'll keep a drink ready for ya when you stop by! Good Natured and Well Meaning..... Jay
