I imagine it would be pretty difficult for them to plant their trees in the ground to thicken the truks, eh?

Okay folks,
Here's one for all you old movie buffs out their. This movie was made in 1957 consists of Marlon Brando sporting a very nice cajun accent, and was shot on location in Japan with some gorgeous scenery, including many nice bonsai trees. Give up? It was "Sayonara." I didn't find the movie all that good, but the scenery caught my attention as I was flipping channels one day. Low and behold in the corner of the Japanese house was a nice old black pine, and there were some other bonsai throughout the movie also. Here's a link to the trailer where you get a peak at some of the nice scenery. http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movi...html?v_id=43047

All the best,
JDL

OK, not a movie but a tv-play, but in one of the episodes of HBO's "Six Feet Under" daughter Claire is given a Juniper-bonsai by her aunt Sarah.

there was this episode of "Kung Fu- the legend continues" starring David Carradine where at the end of the episode, as a sign of gratitude Kwai Chang-Cane was given a bonsai plant and another thing (I can't remember). Well, anyway he didn't give any love to the bonsai since he just basically threw it on top of the table as if saying this is not my culture ( Japanese) and not to my liking. Can anyone confirm this and tell me what the other thing is?

Then there's the episode of Ferris Bueller the TV series where the "controlling principal had a bonsai.

In the show "King of the Hill" Bobby is trimming a bonsai for Boomhauer while he's house-sitting.

In the Nintendo Gamecube game Animal Crossing, you can actually decorate your house with Bonsai. I remember having a Mugo Pine and an Azaelea!

I can't confirm it but I thought he was given a small pouch. The pouch was the size of what was used as a tobacco pouch with a rawhide pull thingy.
It contained herbs and other medicinal things. And maybe some other goodies.

お金がネーて言うんだよ! (okane ga nain te iun da yo - which roughly translates in this case as "i told you i dont got any effin money!") is one of the best lines in the first episode when they are fighting over money.

There was a commercial that got considerable airtime around here. It was for some SUV or something. Theres a tree out on a ledge. It was potted. I couldn't tell if it really was a pine, but seemed to be styled as traditional pine tree image. The camera zoomed in and there was a little suv zooming all around.

WF

ps. Does bonsai sell cars too?

Karate Kid 3 was on here again last night.

You know, opens a Bonsai Shop opposite a Pottery, and they want the young girl to make them some special pots . . . .

Did a complete re-style in 5 mins while the lad asked her for a date.

Oh well, if only ALL THINGS in life were that easy

Ian.
