What you're missing, Carl, is an opportunity to get rid of some trees!

(I have yet to sell a tree on eBay. )

BTW, it sold for $295, with 18 bidders.

Boy I may catch it for this one. But here goes.

I have visited e-bay and many shops around the country. Yes e-bay has its risks and one needs to check out the trees and the notes from previouse buyers. Some of these trees are pre-bonsai material regardless of the claim. But here is where I will get in trouble.

I have picked a number between $100 and $150 to spend on trees. In so doing I haave found really nice material in shops. But even in the shops I have found Cr@p in this price range. One experience was a well known high end shop that tried to sell me a 7 inch tall 1 inch wide chinese elm trunk just in from Japan, no branches and had wire in the wood (I could see the ends sticking out). The shop master wanted $100 for one of these tree.

Now after the shock as to how a well known guy could try to sell junk at this price I started to think. Well, northeast, high cost of living, high taxes, high pay, high everything. So maybe this guy was not far off to sell these at what the market will bare. After all he is not in business to lose money.

The same is on e-bay. What the market will bare. Don't falt the seller fault the buyer who uneducatedly buys the junk. What happened to "buyer be ware". The seller is just marketing his wares as best he can and yes even all sellers lie to some extent about their products or services.

So if you spend the mony and are happy when the tree arives good for you. If not lesson learned.

What about this tree. Does anyone think
it's worth what it sold for?

Actually the tree is worth about $325. Or at least that is what I would sell it for.
Maybe I should change my mind about selling on Ebay ;o) I do need a new Porshe

Look at the bid history, Ron:

http://offer.ebay.com/ws3/eBayISAPI...item=2589140013

At least half a dozen bidders were willing to pay well more than that, so that's what it's "worth" to them.

Regards,

Matt

Amen.
That is always the bottom line. All I can say is what it was worth to me. Not to the bidders.

Actually Ron, we'd know if you were serious about the Porcshe, if you'd spell it right

I always look at these posts and recognize that eBay may be the buyers only source. No question of a 200 mile drive.

That's why I'm sympathetic to these buyers and to those that sell to them.

As for sellers, you can be envious, or you can offer better trees at lower (starting) prices.

Bless you all.

Regards,

Bart
