Where to purchase limestone?-need to alkinize soil for Commiphora
I am looking for any recommendations as to where to purchase limestone (not powder, just small gravel or chunks) to add to my potting soil mix...this is going to be for Commiphora sp. (myrrh), which like alkaline, saline, well drained soil...any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try your local yellow pages. Anything to do with rock quarries, construction, driveways, hardware etc would be a good place to start. Sounds like you dont need much?, maybe scout out some local limestones from a creek, river or driveway etc.

Don't know what part of Pa. you're from. If it's south or east of what they call the South Mountain, then limestone is everywhere. North and west of there it's mostly sandstone, shale or even coal slag. If the quarry thing doesn't work, try going to a building supply and get a bag of concrete mix, and sift / wash everything out but the stones. Get a bag of high strength mix, the regular strength just may have river gravel, but the sharp angular cuts of crushed limestone give it more strength. Just and idea, good luck, Larry Buy the way, another way to increase the alkaline, that is also a fertilizer, is wood ashes. Happy hunting
