Superthrive Applications?
Finally found a 4 oz. bottle of Superthrive at Wal-Mart!
Now that I got it, how do I apply it? It says to use with regular fertilizer routine? Forgot to mention that all my trees are potensai. I have no true bonsai in bonsai pots. All are in training in grow boxes and some seedlings. They include pinus strobus, pinus parviflora, carpinus japonica, korean hornbeam, acer(japanese and trident maple). Pyracantha, blue star juniper, and blue cedar too! -Kevin

The packaging should tell you, if you can get through all that #1 REVITALIZER #1 REVIVER stuff. It's something like 1/4 teaspoon to the gallon.
Regards, Matt

Hi Kevin,
the "first aid" use is about 1/4 tsp per gallon, or a cap full. For newly repotted, trimmed, or sick or stressed trees. Just for general use it gets a bit expensive. It won't hurt to use it all the time, except in the wallet. If you decide you like it, go to google and type in super thrive. Look for "New England Hydroponics" to come up in the selections you get with google. They have the best price on larger bottles of super thrive, than anywhere else I have been able to find. Quote:
According to the really, really fine print on my bottle cap, "count this cap, full, as 70+ drops, or one teaspoon". So you would be using 4 times the recommended amount and might not be one of "billions-proven far ahead 5 ways". A syringe or medicine dropper would measure 1/4 teaspoon accurately or just a measuring 1/4 teaspoon. There are 5 ml per tsp. so 1.25 ml would also equal 1/4 tsp. On the top front label it says "2000 gallon DROP-A-GAL(TM)". No wonder we never see DROP-A-GAL, they have it trademarked. My bottle also says "very soft plants, or constant, daily or maintenance use: one minim per gallon, one ounce per 500 gallons". I have no idea what a "minim" is but suppose it is a drop. However, seeing as there are 3 tsp in a tbs, and 2 tbs in an ounce, that gives you 6 tsp in an ounce. Divide 500 by 6 and you get 83+ (drops). Maybe they should have named their drop a "maxim" instead. Under bare-root soaking it says that 2 tbs= one ounce, go figure. There are so many laughs on this label it makes your side ache. What's 50-in-1(also trademarked)? There are only two ingredients listed. $5000 guaranteed but elsewhere double-money-back guarantee. Also, warranty limit=double price of one bottle. What a joke. But then, I guess the biggest joke is we spend $7+ for a small bottle of this stuff. These guys must be laughing all the way to the bank. |

Larry, is that the larger bottle you are quoting from? Whose cap might be quite a bit bigger than the one on the 4 oz bottle?

The 4 oz. bottle says that the cap is one teaspoon. So when i mixed 2 gal. of my diluted miracle grow solution, I added half a cap full. I think thats right.
So I should just use it like this each time I fertilize? I like the the quote about trees on the back "Two years' growth in one"? With a question mark at the end! Also my favorite quote is "Best product known, for any purpose." -say many leaders. -Kevin

Yes sir, I have the 4 oz bottle. I also love how it says "pure, for edible plants, but do not drink", and yet it lists "dissolved solids, 25% of weight", and only .057% named ingredients.
My wife, a nurse, informed me that she has heard the term "minim" used in medical applications where something is too small to measure. My bad. I do love the smell though. Reminds me of stuff we used to take long ago; Vitamins and maybe Gerital or something. I guess that's the B1. Last edited by larry mac : 27-Jun-2004 at 09:31 PM. |

Did you ever hear that the guy who invented Vaseline (petroleum jelly) consumed a spoonful of it every day and lived to the ripe old age of 96?
#3 on this list of oddities: http://members.aol.com/oddwonder/people.htm maybe there is room for a Superthriver on the walk of fame? Regards, Matt

I use superthrive in my rooting bed when cuttings seem a little slow to take root. In fact I used it a couple of weeks ago on some cuttings that had been stuck for a over 2 months. Since the application most all the cuttings are taking root (new growth on top and reststance when tugging on them).

Timeless, How did you apply it to your cuttings? Did you just water them with this superthrive solution?
