Re: soil ----red lava rock

That's a tough question. Start calling around the nursery centers and rockeries. If you can't get hold of a small lava, then a Turface or Scotts Clay Buster product would be a good substitute. Maybe even better.

If you search on Turface (and ignore this message which is bound to come up) you'll find some more info in this forum.

Regards,

Matt

I generally have to buy the larger size stuff used for bedding covers and beat the snot out of it with a sledge hammer. A major problem with this is that you have to sift out the fines afterward and that can ad up to a lot of loss.

Red Lava Rock

I get mine from the Monestary www.bonsaimonk.com They sell it in 20 lb bags. I have used it for the past few years and its great stuff.

Have a great day!

Guest,

If you let us know where you live (The general area) I am sure that some mebers may have sources for you.

If you're from Michigan, the Bonsai House carries it in 50 lb bags, 1/8 inch in size.

I know the location of a good sized volcano - perhaps you could make your own?

Oh no, ignore me - that's another thread.
