Soil Ph Testing
Does anyone out there have any info on soil testing? I am wondering what the best way is to test the ph of the soil in my containers. Is litmus paper good enough or is a ph meter required? From what I've read a metal spike ph meter is not good enough and others are a bit more expensive. All help appreciated.

They do make kits so you can test your own but I don't know how accurate they would be. The best way would be to send a sample to your county ag office. They do it for farmers and gardeners so I guess they would do it for bonsai growers too.

Yeap, Tony's advice would be the best way to go. Most of the test kits aren't real accurate and the pH dyes that are accurate can be hard to read. Your land grant university's extension service should be able to get you a pH reading.
