Soil mix for Mugho Pine?
Hello,
I have just aquired a mugho pine. The soil that is currently in the pot does not look too good. Looks like alot of clay in it. I am going to repot the tree and would like to know the best soil mix for this species. I know what the books say but, I am seeking some advise from those who have practical experience with this tree. I live in zone 5, southeastern Michigan. Thanks. |

Re: Soil mix for Mugho Pine?
Pines in general like a fast draining soil and don't need to be repotted often-maybe every 4 or 5 years depending on the condition of the roots. I like a mix of 30% river sand (1/8" to 1/4"
, 40% Turface or Oil dry and 30% pine park or oak mulch. Must be free draining. or you can just buy some of this.[b:ce085c73cb]http://www.stonelantern.com/bsoil.html[/b:ce085c73cb]
