Our local conservatory uses this on all of it's bonsai:
1/3 - Turface 1/3 - Turkey Grit (granite, lareger than chicken grit) 1/3 - Pine or Fir Bark Our club had a meeting on Sunday to try to consolidate on a single soil recipe for the club. We didn't get very far. Everyone has their favorite combination to get drainage, water retention, color, etc. If your pre-mixed soil is not draining well or is retaining too much water, your particle size it too small and you have no air flow over your trees. |
