tom, i wish you have a special mix for tropicals too. im repoting next spring and maybe you can hook me up with one.

Hi Eric, ask and ye shall receive. Its funny that you brought that up. Were bringing out a tropical mix after the New Year. Had a lot of requests for it. So it will be worth our while to get the ingredients and make 500 gallons of it.

Wow -

Thank you all for the replies. This site is excellent.

I'm considering the Shady Side Bonsai mix 5quarts for $24 plus shipping...
However...I don't want to spend $30.

More research I suppose.

Thanks again, your opinions and knowledge are greatly appreciated.

All grammar and spelling mistakes are straight from the page. I'd be careful about quoting them.

Thanks for alerting me of this, I have been very busy this time of year you know how it ,and the site would be the least of my worries. But im sure ill get around to it sooner or later.

Thanks

G'day Justin...

My take on the soil mix subject is, use the KISS principle. You really don't need FIVE PLUS ingredients in a bonsai soil mix.

Again MY take...all you need is Turface OR Profile OR OILDRI plus Pumice OR Lava Rock. And maybe a little bark, like Orchid mix. You should be able to find these products...some of them at least...locally.

My mix is equal parts of (Turface OR Profile OR OILDRI) and (Pumice OR Lava) with MAYBE a little bark...very little.

Remember, keep it simple!

My thoughts...

This is what works for me.

Pat
