I was told by maybe Grampz one day in chat and by members of the IBC that soil PH in bonsai pots need not be a consideration?
I got a explination as to why pH doesn't matter in a pot and it goes something like ; The pH level of soil determens what nutrients that soil is likely to have. But since the soil in pots is changed reguarly(we hope) and fertilized then the soil will always have available nutrients for the plant/tree to absorb and the pH level will not affect this. I was told somehow this did not apply to azalea! I have been growing a couple of azalea in pots with no PH adjustment and they are booming. I do use an azalea fert as well as a normal fert. I stoped testing PH levels after this was stated to me.
