Can anyone tell me if Schultz Aquatic Soil and Schultz Clay Soil Conditioner are really the same thing. I have just starting using a mix of 70% Aquatic Soil and 30% peat. It seems to be working pretty well so far.

Yes, it's the same material, but the aquatic stuff is graded larger and sifted somewhat. In any case, you are probably paying about 10 times as much as what it would cost by the bag as Turface MVP.

Thanks Matt. I haven't had any luck finding Turface locally (SW Pa). I even checked with a friend who is a grounds keeper for a country club. Fortunately, I only have six trees to deal with.

AncientLegend.....I can empathize with your plight as I can't find Turface anywhere up here in Canada! However, this Profile stuff is available at about 6 bucks Canadian per bag.

After much searching, I bought a 40# bag of the Schultz Clay Soil Conditioner for $25 at a Dallas nursery. I later discovered that all the Walmarts sell the Schultz Aquatic Soil for $6 per 10# bag.

BTW, we've had quite a few posts on the stuff here lately.

I just ask my local ACE hardware store to order the Schultz Clay Soil Conditioner whenever I need it. They don't stock it, but will order it anytime - $15 for the large bag.

FYI, I am paying US $8 for 10 pounds of the Aquatic Soil at Wal-mart.

bmor - thanks for the tip. I'll look for the Profile brand... could save a buck or two.
