Hi Fkokkas,
The Japanese use Kanuma for azaleas, as it drains well and is slightly acid in composition. Its available all over the world and most bonsai outlets will have it. As for keeping soil acidic, Miracid is another product for use with eracious loving plants. All the best, Aaron |

i'll second what aaron said. my father-in-law lives near kanuma in japan and he is an azalea freak. he only pots them in kanuma soil from his yard, but then he lives just outside of kanuma.
kanuma tsuchi (soil) is acidic and azaleas love acidic soil. jeff ps if you cant find kanuma soil, there are alternatives, but someone at a nursery should be able to help you better than i can. |

Just remember, Kanuma has a pH that is around 5.5. You will not need to use any soil acidifier like Miracid if you are using Kanuma. Jeff |
