Another issue is possible salt buildup in the used soil. You'd better be prepared to flush it rigorously; better still, don't use old soil to begin with. It is even a good idea to sterilize the pot in a bleach solution before you plant in it. With mildew, mites, and all sorts of other possible problems it's not worth the risk.
