A Picea repotting Adventure.

I bought a Picea glauca, Dwarf spruce.

Unfortunatly , the original picture got corrupted.

But here are some shot of my reppoting.

First , the initial roots.

I needed something to hold the tree in the grow box.

So I got the drill and made anchor hole in the bottom of the box.

Very cool twin trunk. I am relatively new so forgive me when I ask this question, but isn't this the time of year you aren't supposed to do any repotting?

You are absolutly right. I should have wait till october or november for a spruce.

John Naka say July is risky for transplanting. August is almost certain death. But in emergency alway repot.

The tree did not cost me much, and I had to do it.
I get this urge of doing something sometimes.

not many roots left for that much foliage. hope it pulls through for ya. Where are you goin from here in terms of design? I just picked up a black hills spruce and I'm either doing informal upright or formal if i can straighten out a slight bend in the trunk.
Good luck
Tom

I agree. Not much root. This is more "do or die" situation. But I like risk.

Ill study the tree for now, also study books.
Maybe ill go with a double trunk, or a trunk and a jin.

If someone has an idea.

I like the double trunk idea. Looks like the left trunk is thicker, so it should be the taller of the two. I would either bend it so it was straight with the bottom of the tree, or plant the whole thing on a tilt to the right, and bent both trunks vertically. Either way you prevent the "slingshot" look. I like your tree, and im actually curious as to why there aren't more spruces out there.
