I don't use any soil! I only use Sphagnum moss. It needs some care in handling but it does the job very well. No bugs, no diseases, bit of alge if over watered in the rain season, root rot in some kinds of trees but most tropicals like water anyhow, but other than that......
Here is a picture of part of my collection. I live in the tropics so we have a year round growing season (mostly).
Any questions?

PS how do I make this picture smaller? it is only 19K but it seems to be distorting this page.

Has anyone used the soil that bonaialr sells at bonsai-mart.com...And whats in it.....organic or inorganic or just rock
