Home made fertilizer recipies

Hello all,

My collection of trees is growing at a rapid rate, and i am finding the most expensive aspect of maintaining them at this stage (mainly prebonsai) is fertilizer.

I was wondering if anyone has any recipies to share for homemade fertilizer, if so please list ingrediants, instructions and what you use it for, (e.g 10-10-10).

Regards

Palmbanks

If you get feedstore "meals" you will save mucho money as opposed to getting it at garden supply stores. I've used all of these in my mix --Bloodmeal, cottonseed meal, rice bran, alfalfa meal, hoof and horn meal, feather meal, bonemeal.
Happy fermenting

Hi Palmbanks,

I use 4 different solid fertilizers which are soluble in water.
It are so called Fuchsia Fertilizers. They are sold here in various NPK values.

10-52-10, 20-20-20, 7-10-27 and 28-14-14

So for every season the right fertilization. They come in liitle containers of 500 gram's and cost so between 3 and 5 euro. On 10 liter water, I use 3 teaspoons.

I find it very usefull next to fertilizing with organic fertilizer like:

cow, chicken or horse solid fertilizer, which you can buy in 15 kg bags for about 7 euro.

In England you can find these for sure.
Hope it helps you,

Cheers Wessel
