Question fertilizer question

Ive been using the Shultz liquid plant food (10-15-10)for my trees.
Would I benefit from adding other fertilizers (organic) to the Shultz? If so, is there one that would be fine to use with all of my trees, from Pines to Ficus?

Miracle grow 20-20-20, just adjust for season, health, etc., most that I have talked to that know what they are doing say that if you have a free draining soil, every 10 - 14 days full strength.

Hi Adam, if you do a search here on ferts you will find that everyone has their own methods and beliefs, (and there are many). I would think the Shultz would be fine if used according to instructions. As for mixing it up with organics, I have read here of many well experienced folks who do and many who do not. What it boils down to is what works best for you. I personally use Dyna Grow 7-9-5 and change it up with Bio-Gold pellets and a combo of fish/seaweed emulsion. It works for me and I am happy with the results I get, but that does not mean it is the best regime to use. Try some different things and see what works best to produce growth on your trees would be my suggestion. Good luck and do that search you will find a lot of varied info that may help you decide.

What sauce said, I didn't mean to switch from Schultz, a good balanced fertilizer is just fine, the NPK differances some people play with for local and prefered growing conditions, but if you make it availabe the tree will use what it needs, if it's there. I hear more and more from respected names in the field that there is very minimal need to play all the games with changing up from season to season, although most will switch up now and then with organics and other brands, just to get a possible dose of something that might be missing from a particular brand( sounds kind of C.Y.A. doesn't it.) What I am saying is I guess the best thing to do is make the fertilizer available( the trees do need it) and pay attention to your trees.

Good Luck , hope this was of help.

I pretty much agree with everything that has been said, particularly that experienced people are GIVING away their work on these forums when they create an online styling session. This is work that would cost $25 to $100 per hour if you had to get someone to help you personally.

But I am going to put the shoe on the other foot. I don't see the problem as a dearth of professionals donating their time and talents, I see it as a dearth of good material being presented by the readers of the forum. Let's face it, when there is a really nice piece of material submitted for comments, there are plenty of them. That is what excites a professional. You really can't expect them to continually comment on sticks in pots. About 90% of the time or even more, my basic comment would be a one liner: Cut here, let grow. Nobody wants to keep saying that, and you all don't want to keep reading it. Want good advice? Bite the bullet and buy something worthy.

Gettin' old and cranky.
