Feeding White Pine in the Summer

I have acquired a 12 yr old white pine grafted to black pine. The articles I have read by experts give feeding schedules that include July and August. I am wondering if the authors of the articles are speaking of their own climates or are pines able to sustain hot weather feeding. I have other trees that are never fed during the hot months. The heat is coming-Please help me!

I keep an organic fish pellet (previously organic blend) on all my trees all year round. I feel they will take what they need, when they need it - and I can't predict the weather accurately enough to know when they will need the nutrients. I augment the organic with miracle grow at 1/2 strength every two weeks from about April 1 through about October 1 - except when it is "hot" (over about 90 degrees). Seems to work for me in my "mild" climate. Hope that helps.

I thought I posted a rather lengthy reply to this. The reason we feed white pine in summer is that we will be using early spring growth to develop the tree, instead of replacing it with later buds like JBP. Withhold fert. in spring, let needles harden off, then feed to strengthen the tree.
