Is the contest limited to a single tree design or is multiple tree design allowed? $50 is plenty for someone who might want to do a group planting or a saikei.

Thanks,
Paul... who saw a great foemina juniper today, but was $69.

>Is the contest limited to a single tree design

A good question for clarification. The contest is a primarily a bonsai styling contest and the rules make reference to "tree" a few times so I think that would limit it to a single plant - but you could consider a multiple trunk or raft style created from a single plant, if that was your thing and the material would accommodate it.

So I understand the pix are limited to b4 and after, no "during" or intermediate pix, right?

staring intently at my $19 DAspruce,

pootsie, you are correct 3 before pics top front (best guess) and side andthen 1 (one only) finished pic, the first finished pic submitted will be final.

good luck

September isn't a very good time to do heavy pruning here up North.

Maybe in the Spring.

Gary..... The MBS society just finished their styling demos last weekend (labor day) and sold the stock for 40$ a tree. Heavy pruning was done on all the trees....not saying its a good thing, but as Matt pointed out....

My feeling is this, I wouldnt consider any root pruning this year, but since the trees are going dormant, the sap isnt running up to the branches....Am I right in this train of thought? That this is probably why this would not be a bad thing this time of year? And a good root pruning in spring to balance it out?

wunnering it myself....that being said....my entry is coming momentarily.

Paul

I don't know how I missed this thread before. I will see if I can pick out material for the contest.
