Re: [IBC] Virginia Beach bonsai nurseries

The only real bonsai nursery that I know of (if there are others, I would
love to know!) in the Hampton roads area is Park's Bonsai Farm which sits
off U.S. 58 in Suffolk (~1 hr from Va Beach). I haven't been there myself,
but the local paper ran a story about it not too long ago. Apparently they
had quite a bit of damage still from Isabel last fall. If you do make it
out there, I'd love to hear what you find!

Big Smile Park's Bonsai Nursery

I've often helped the Parks out. They had two of three large greenhouses flattened due to snow. Some friends and I went in there to rescue most of the trees. We're just about done removing the debris but don't have much time to get out there.

The address is 8184 S. Quay Road, Suffolk, VA 23437.

Direct phone is 757-657-9804

They are both Korean and may be difficult to understand over the phone...

They're great folks and have had a rough time over the last few years. They maintain not only the nurseries but a vegetable and fruit producing farm which I think brings in most of their income.

I just got done putting up a splash page for their website. I expect it to be expanded later when my wife allows me the time:
www.parksbonsai.com.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thumbs up Great place to go PARK'S BONSAI FARM

Park's is a great place to visit.Mr park's is a true bonsai master and his trees are just wonderful.I was sorry to see some of his green houses gone becouse of the storms.I have learned a lot from mr. park's on the needs of the differant plants and the training of bonsai trees. He has tought me the true respect of the plants and when I leave there I have a smile on my face and a head full of questions about life in general. He is a wonderful person. He will answer all your questions that you have. There road going back to the farm is a bit ruff but well worth it! There is not another bonsai farm that I know of around here,I have looked for years! I make my own bonsai trees and have used all that he has tought me.I have to say I have some very nice trees now and with time they will be show stopers I hope
