[IBC] Forest grouping, recommended tree?
>I would like create a bonsai forest with trees that are tall and

The only bonsai-like plant I can think of that *might* live under such conditions is "ming aralia", Polyscias fruticosa. It needs some humidity, however, to do well. As far as real bonsai species go, possibly Podocarpus fits your bill, but they need more light than you want to give. I hope you're planning to buy a gro-light? Most bonsai need direct sunlight or good artificial lighting to do well. What you describe sounds like a slow, terrible death for a plant. Nina |

Re: [IBC] Forest grouping, recommended tree?
I would recommend ficus. You can find many of them in local Home Depot or
Lowes stores at a very reasonable priced. They come with 8 or more trees in one container. Just cut the roots apart, they will do fine, I have not been able to kill one yet. They do fine indoors. Put them outdoors in the summer if you wish, they do great in that environment also. The weeping fig is the most common sold in these stores. You can get smaller leaf figs also, however, you may have to go to a green house to find them. >From: Jim <mail@LOST.COM> >Reply-To: Jim <mail@LOST.COM> >To: BONSAI@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM >Subject: [IBC] Forest grouping, recommended tree? >Date: Fri, 30 Jul 2004 11:01:04 GMT > >I would like create a bonsai forest with trees that are tall and >upright.
