White something on leaves
hello all,
I have a bonsai - (corokia) and it has white growths on some leaves. They are shaped like the mother of pearl shell and have brown/orange ends. After i scanned one of the leaves (camera sucks) i found i could take them of with tweesers.... but what made them? are they an animal? egg/ cocoon? mold? http://pushka.bravehost.com/99smtn.jpg any ideas? also... there are white box like growths.. they have little hairs/antenna and re hard, eating the branch under them.. nothing alive... hmmh.. fungus?

Spray with pest oil weekly. Sound like a sucking pest. Only spray on cool day where temp won't get over 25 deg C. I usually spray in afternoon which gives enough time for the oil to dry on the plant.

Scale maybe? Pick off all that you can and squash them. Nothing survives squasing. Then read up on "scale" by searching here and on the Web. You'll need to spray, as Edgey says. Read up on your options, and follow the directions.
