What Are These Little Water Hating Black Bugs?

I've found out about a month ago that when I heavely watered my Fig, around a hundred of these little black bugs came crawling to the surface or out of the pot.

I took the tree out of the pot and showered the roots which have pretty much colonized it.

The bugs disapeared for a while. Today a found a lot more of them. What are they, and how do I get rid of them?

These small pests are a bit smaller than your regular flee, and today I found out they do not only crawl, but they actually make around 3 cm (1 in) jumps!!!

I'm posting a picture of one next to a softwood cut of a chineese elm on a white floor tile.

Here's the same picture again with as much detail as I can get with a 10cm macro.

The tree has been healthier.
It's still recovering from some probable heavy concentrated fertilizer abuse.
