I was recently wiring my juniper and I found two what I suspect to be vine weevils grubs in the soil around the base (white maggot-like critters about 0.5cm long). I've read that they are a disaster. How do you get rid of them and should i treat all my bonsais as a precaution??
There's none on my bonsai yet, but there's three lilli pillis in my garden that are absolutely infested with mites. Does anyone have any suggestions before they ruin everything (that hasn't been ruined by the weevils). At present I'm thinking that I'm going to chop them back all the way to the stumps so theres no leaves (and therefore mites). Thanks for your help Kenny |

Thanks for your help johnny,
as it turns out, they weren't weevils. I pulled the plant out for a look and I couldn't find any more. Still don't know what it was, but the plant's still going strong. All is good. Btw, I love your little picture!! I'm a bit of fan of both windswept and semi-cascade and it incorporates both. Very nice!! Cheers Dan |
