Unknown knots on Ficus Benjamin

Greetings all,

I have a ficus benjamin that has put a new one on me...I am curious if someone else can help me to identify what I have, and the best way to deal with it...

These knots appeared on a couple of the air roots of this ficus last season...I cut one completely off by severing the root above the knot...The other I just cut away the knot leaving the root intact...

As you can see in the photos they came back with a vengeance...Now I not only have them on the air roots but also a very large growth on the tree's nebari...I am getting ready for a re-pot of this tree, and would appreciate any and all information I can get about these knots which I have no experience with...

Thanks in advance for any information you may have to share...

Regards
Behr

Behr,

looks like some kind of gall..evidentily they can be caused by a bacteria Or a fungus.I've never seen them but here's a link you might like to read.
