Systemics

Hey Guys,
I have a wicked greenfly and spider mite infestation.
Treating with sprays pretty impractical for me (over 25 bonsai and over 50 housepalnts, some 10 feet tall) plus I worry about the spray drifting and harming the kids.
Does anyone know of any specific systemics you can add to the soil or water that will get taken up into the leaves and thus kill the buggers? I know nothing will get everything but for me topical applications just aren't feasible. I use those liitle yellow sticky traps for the flies but the plants and trees are still covered.
Thanks!

Re: Systemics

Regular misting should discourage the spider mites.

Whitefly is tougher, but his stuff looks kind of interesting:

"Use on ornamental or edible plants...All sprayed crops may be eaten the same day

Bug-Free contains the active ingredient Bifenthrin. Bifenthrin..Kills most common pests ...aphids, red spider mites, and other mites. It is particularly good at controlling white fly - it even kills the eggs..."

Regards,

Matt

Re: Systemics

Thanks Treebay,
BUT I still have the dilemna of spraying all those plants. By the time I could finish then, it'd be time to start over any other suggestions?
I'm really angling for something systemic - taken up by the roots, distributed to the leaves that kills insects when they suck the sap.
Maybe I'm just dreamin' though!
Thanks

Check out this article. Maybe you can find dy-syston granules!

Re: Systemics

Wouldn’t you know it – my local garden store has Di-Syston Granules! I’m more than a little nervous about using it, especially on my Carmona but I’ll try a diluted version and keep my fingers (& toes) crossed.
Thanks Guy – you’re great!
