Snail poo or worm casts?
Hello,
I have these funny mini walnut whip type swirls of soil on lots of my bonsai, I also have seen lots of snails about. A lot of my moss cover seems to be disappearing too... Are these swirls snail poo? Do snails eat moss? Or is it nothing to do with the snails, and the swirls are just worm casts? Regards, Chris.

Chriss, odd not sure but I don't think this is worm castings, don't know much about snail poo though, but again don't think it's the worms. Put out a saucer full of beer and see what shows up. If you didn't know a plate full of beer brings the snails together for a pint or thimble full and they drown in their sorrows.

It looks like snail poop to me. Worm casts are more like shaped heaps of very fine soil (which is essentially what they are, albeit very rich in minerals). These look more organic.

Gday Chris!
My vote is for snail poo: when I was a kid we had a brick letter box which was home to countless snails. If we left the mail in the box overnight, it would invariably come out half digested, covered in slime trails, and dotted with little mummified versions of the droppings you have pictured. Thanks. Fly.
