Shinpaku juniper pest
Hi, i seem to have some sort of powdery white substance amongst the foliage of my juniper. I cant see any bugs, just this white film. The foliage in these areas seems weak in comparison with the rest of the tree. Any ideas on what this could be? Any solutions would be very well recieved....cheers.

Some junipers naturally have a whitish coating near the base of the leaves. However, if you are keeping the tree under high humidity, it could be mildew. Post some pics if you can, that would be helpful

Spider mites and aphids love them Shimpaku's, sounds like aphids with the white though. Hose out the foliage, and repeat every few days for a while. You can go to a Safers etc. , just check the lable before you buy , some aren't good for different plants.

A white powdery substance indicates mildew to me. I have had good success using copper based fungicides to kill of the mildew on broadleaved trees, don't know what it'll be like on juniper. I'm sure somebody around here will know...

This could be several insects --I get this one every summer on a variety of plants. They can work their way into root systems too. Sometimes the cottony coating is so thick, the insect is relatively invisible.

There are no species of fungi causing powdery midew that affect junipers nor any other conniferous trees as far as I know. Can you show us picture of what you observe ? |
