Same Tree, new issue, help?

Ok, I feel terrible now; it's the same tree as the one with the mites... though that seems to be under control now. I will find out in a few days ^_^.

I just went to use the water test thing that Pat suggested to me, and I see this thing move, and at first I dismissed it as a piece of fertilizer that was in the soil when I got it, so I stick my stick in and it moves.

The thing moves deeper in the soil when I try to reveal it. I got a quick look at it, it’s a smallish bug, white, and likes to burrow in the soil when light it around. I only saw one but I was afraid to look farther because the poor tree is being attacked left and right and I want to figure out what this is.

It looked almost like a small moth but the “wing” area would not leave it’s back.


I’m still new, to the bonsai thing, so please bear with me. I just don’t want to loose this tree.

uh oh, find it........and get rid of it!
nothing alive should be in your soil.


i hope its not a vine weevil............................................ .....cause they will eat ur roots till your tree goes KA-PUT!
below is a picture of the weevil larva which dig into the soil.

you may need more than the soapy soloution.

in worse case scenarios......sometimes you have to get the tree out and re pot it to get rid of things.

but see how u go.......dig down and go for it.

It's not the larve, it had like four legs, and a head....
but it was moving fast so I couldn't exactly get it. I will try again to remove it.


EDIT- now it is gone... if it burrowed under where I can see right now that explains it...
I will keep looking though

This would be a time to use the submersion method of watering. Put the pot (with tree) in a pan and add water until its just over the rim of the pot. Anything that breaths air will leave the soil or die.

Right on Waltr...this is one of the RARE exceptions to the NEVER IMMERSE advise.
