Pest & disease photos

I will be enhancing the pests section of the ***FAQ*** and would be interested in your photos of pests and disease, and damage caused by insects and disease on plants.

We may be able to include some type of quiz

Photos will include photo credits in the faq, so if you have some disease examples; bugs or bug damage, or better yet, bugs doing damage to bonsai, feel free to post them here.

The types of things we'd be looking for. Closeups with plain backgrounds are ideal. We'll take what we can get.

mildew
aphids
ants
chewing and sucking insects of all kinds
chlorosis
any kind of blight
sunburn on leaves.
caterpillars
insect eggs
wasp damage
grasshoppers (saw one recently)

Hi Matt. Once again you are outdoing yourself in the "good idea" department. You might also consider including pictures of things that are not harmful but many people believe could be a problem, i.e, beneficial fungi seen around roots, lichen, etc. And how about using pictures like the one miyagi just sent of his weather damaged maple? Some people might think that was due to some disease.............

large pest

We have this thing running around the backyard. Latin name "Abbicus lanicus"
common name mutadella. uproots any recently planted tree. carnivourous appetite, has killed at least eight birds this summer, mostly babies though we have witnessed her catching full grown prey. The most ironic thing is we feed this killer. Bikini size you ask? 24-24-24. she is very curvy Oh god i used a smiley face. somebody shoot me.

I'll try to get some good pictures of sunburned leaves, I am sure my quince still has that.

This may sound vague, but I'll give it a try: I have noticed many insects on one of my trees. They resemble what we used to call 'treehoppers'. They are wedge-shaped insects that are a bright green colour. They can jump very high and I believe they do this using wings, though I am not sure.

I tried getting a picture of them, but my digital camera wouldn't focus on such a small object.

Check out the pictures on Bug ID posted by mfp1028 in this section. I believe those are also leafhoppers. They come in all different colors, so don't be put off by that.
