I guess my first question is why are you applying it "systematically"? And what exactly do you mean by systematically? Do you have repeat infestations? That is more likely the cause of the damage to your tree. If you don't have infestations, why do you keep spraying it?

I have used neem on any trees that get infested and never have had a problem with it - but it ususally only takes 1 or 2 treatments to take care of the problem. If you are having to use it over and over, there must be something wrong.

mean ol neem oil

I guess what I meant by "systematically",was I spray it about every three weeks to prevent fungal and spidermite infestations I mostly see in my head! I guess I could be paranoid! But i do fear both of those banditos, popping up.Upon deeper reflexion, maybe i'll probably lay off the hard stuff(neemoil that is!),and switch to concern soap only when I spot the little red menances! I just killed a ton of aphids on my rose bushes with neem. It definaitely works.

But if you don't actually have infestations, you probably don't need to use it.

speaking of blackspot on chinese elms!,boy do I have it on my one specimen tree!I have been treating it with some greenlight fungicide.maybe I should have used all that neem oil, I used on the junipers for my beloved elm instead! The greenlights not stopping it enough! Thanks for mentioning using neem for your elms TEB you have jarred a great idea in my head. Will let you know how it goes! Namaste BP

You may need daconil to knock the blackspot from your elm. In sucessive years be careful about wetting the new foliage, wait until it hardens off. I have several chinese elms now, and I am very careful to make sure the foliage stays dry until it hardens off. This has been the best way to keep the black spot at bay. When you water the trees in spring just after they have leafed, insure you water directly on to the soil.

You must not have used it correctly then, because I've never had it NOT work. How did you mix it and apply it?
