Liquidambar orientalis brown spots

Is this "brown spot" fungus??

I noticed these tiny brown spots a couple of weeks ago and sprayed with Orthonex. I partially defoliated but I didn't want to completely strip it of leaves. Now I've noticed that some of the newer leaves are getting it.

It was in partial shade because I had repotted it about a month ago. Now I am keeping it in full sun.

Should I keep hitting it with the Orthonex and taking off leaves that have spots (almost all of them)? I am afraid that defoliating it will do more harm than good!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Mike

I had worried myself about such spots on mine. I was told it was normal for these in Autum. I think I put mine out in all the elements to get some colour. That was last year and mine are fine after giving great autum colour and all.
Since you are in spring I guess you are right about giving them more sun. I can't remember the full explenation given, it may well be some type of fungus but give it some sun and I don't think there is much to worry about.

Thanks Soltan. It's tough finding info on sweetgum bonsai.

Your picture is much better at showing what I was trying to describe. Almost identical spotting.

I'll take your advice and stop worrying so much.

Cheers!
