Identify this bug

On the new growth leaves of my gardenia and on my golden shower tree sapling there are these insects that look like very thin small white grains of rice. It would appear they are feeding off the leaves as they tend to shrivel up after. Any ideas? Thanks.

Aphids! They are fairly easy to control by spraying with water every day to just wash them away.
I also use some Safers Soap Spray every 4 to 5 days in case of a new hatch.

Good luck, Hector

It looks like aphids blast as many as you can with a hose or spray bottle then spray with insecticidel soap keep doing it for a couple weeks.

I was treating them with a Schultz anti-insect/fungus. The rice guys on the one plant have finally decreased to possible extinction now. I didn't see the aphids again until today. I switched over to Safers insectidal soap now. We'll see how it goes.

I've also decided that aphids are freaky looking.
