I Want Bugs

NO, I mean the good bugs. Lady bugs. I want to attract ladybugs to my yard. Any suggestions? On the Gardening and Landscaping show, they say that Tootsie Roll candy will atract them, but won't that attract ants also? Can I put a Tootsie Roll on the top of every pot? Wont the ingredients be watered into my soil and do harm?

Nevermind my original post. Today there is an infestation of ladybugs. There is 5 in the room with me right now. They're everywhere in the neighborhood! Where did they all come from. Last week I wanted them in my yard, and today they are in the yard and in the house. Be carfull what you wish for.

Doody Please pardon my ignorance .....but ........uugh.............Why in the world do you want lady bugs?
I thought they did more damage than good.
They eat at our garden and if I could bottle them up for you I sure would.

The main food source for ladybugs are aphids. Aphids are destructive little plant eating pests, and ladybugs are considered beneficial insects. You can purchase ladybugs for release in your lawn or gardens, but to keep them around, there has to be a reason for them to stay. Like moist conditions, and a strong food source (aphids). Once the food source is gone, they move on.

Like Ralph said, ladybugs are'nt eating your garden, aphids are. The ladybugs are eating the aphids.
