Nicbachman:
It may just be a grub, but since there are more than one Borer beattle, I suggest you do a Google search. Type "borer Beatle" in quotes.

I would send you pictures, but they are copywrited, and I do respect the photographers rights...

Carl

Just a guess but I sounds like what is called, locally anyway, the dreaded carpenter ant. Tiny little buggers that like to live on the inside of trees.
The local remedy is a ant bate called Amdro. ( available almost anywhere.)
Place a small amount on top of the soil in your pot. Maybe a quarter of a teaspoon on the average pot.
The ants soon find it, take the stuff back to the nest where it kills the queen. Without her the colony soon dies.
Takes a few days but it always works. And no it wont hurt your bonsai.

first of all, please, i beg of you, do not move this into the dead Pests and Diseases forum.

This isn't a dead forum, and it's where posts on the topics of pest and disease belong. All new posts are flagged in red and also appear on the index page.

PS. RE Carl Rosner's advice, think you will do better with a search on "Beetle" instead of "Beatle" unless you are looking for Pete Best.

Regards,

Matt
