Green fungus??

Hello all,

I'm Dusco and I have just joined this board. I'm a Dutchy living in Scotland and 2 weeks ago I bought my first Serissa Bonsai at the local Homebase.

After reading a beginners book and going through loads of information on the internet I am excited and determined to first of keep my baby healthy and eventually transfer her into a beautiful tree.

Now I am worried as it seems there is some green fungus? developing on the tree and I didn't manage to find any info on this anywhere. Can anybody tell me what this is and how to get rid of it?

Any other tips would be much appreciated as well.

I have attached a picture, hopefully it's clear enough to see.

Thanks in advance!

The "fungus" looks like algae. The soil that you have it potted in looks like regular potting soil, which stays to wet and encourages the growth of algae and the death of the tree. The algae can be removed with a tooth brush.

Thanks John Lee, I tried getting it all off using a toothbrush which did help a little but I wasn't able to get it all cleaned off otherwise I would have damaged the tree. I did change the soil. Guess I can't do much more now as wait and hope she's gonna be fine.
