Bug Fukien Tea Tree

Hi, I have a Fukien Tea Tree that gives me trouble. It is a good size tree, but it had some kind of bug that made the leaves curl up and fall of. I sprayed it with soapinsecteside and cleaned the roots, however, it has very few leafs now and the pot has some whitish residue on the outside. I am a newbie at Bonsai's and need help. I have positioned the tree on a west window sill. Please help

Thank you

How long has it been since you sprayed it last? Being a Fukien, it was probably aphids. It usually takes more than one spraying to break there cycle. Just spray every 7 to 10 days to prevent reinfestation.

What do you mean you "cleaned the roots"? Doing root work on a stressed tree isn't the best idea. What was the bug or what did they look like? Was it the leave symptom that got you to spray the tree? What is the soil like?

Bug Fukien Tree

Thanks everyone for the responds. I realize now, that I messed up by taking the tree out of the pot and flushed the roots. I have re-potted it in Bonsai soil. I will wait and see what happens and spray it every so often. Hopefully it will survive. Still not sure what the residue on the outside of the pot is. Keep the information coming
