FICUS & BUGS!!!
Hello! I am new to the bonsai world and my knowledge is limited to two small beginning bonsai books. I have had a ficus for three months now, and about two weeks ago I noticed small, white, fast crawling bugs that live in my tree's soil. They do not usually crawl on the surface of the soil, except for when I water the soil. My tree has not grown any new leaves and no leaves have became any larger for the past month. Can anyone please let me know what kind of pest these bugs may be and how to get rid of them? Thank you.

ole flynty,
Soooooo hard to figger out these without a photo. Could be so many critters. The fact that your ficus is not exploding with growth could be the time of year. They tend to grow faster in warmer longer days. May or may not be tied to the bug problema. Where you live, conditions under which the bonsai lives, and a photo and I bet all your questions will be answered, unless your first name is Larry. Nut out

Treatment
All I can say is repot. If that doesn't work then treatment is nessary. Treat from weakest to srongest treatment.
