Question Curling Leaves

I have a 12 year old chinese elm, but most of the leaves are curling up and falling off, there is however a lot of green buds on it? Is this normal or is my tree dieing, as posted earlier I have had some problems with mold, worms and spiders which I have treated but not sure how successfully.

Thanks

I had a similar reaction a year back after someone sprayed Roundup (tm) nearby. After a dicey moment it survived.

FWIW

Are these last year's leaves that are curling up, or this year's?

Cbob's on the right path. Strip all old leaves off and enjoy the glory we call spring .

Chinese elm will also readily drop leaves after treatment with insecticides and such, especially systemics. Quite temporary, new leaves pop out quickly.

Is it normal for last year's leaves to curl up and fall off? Ever heard of Autumn? Often times referred to as FALL? ;-)
