Clear pellets on grape

Hello,

Last week most of my trees began breaking buds.My Grape in particular now has 3 and 4 " green and tender stems. One of these shoots has very small clear coloured bubbles scattered along the surface. They are way too small to show up on a photo.Maybe you could poke one with a needle point.

They aren't connected to the plant and will stick to each other or anything they come in contct with.Crystal clear and since they are only on one shoot, and are sticky I figure they must be eggs of some sort.I pray they are not spider eggs!!!! I am going to iradicate whatever"egg" this is.I am just wondering if someone thinks it is eggs or what?I always thought insects kept the eggs in sacs or webs. These are just kinda randomly placed along the stem.

'Just curious and Thanks

You don't say where you got the plant, but if it's new from a nursery or supplier, the clear "sacs" are most likely empty fertilizer granules. Osmocoate is the biggest brand name of this kind of fertilizer. It consists of a special polymer capsule that holds liquid fertilizer. The fertilizer is relased through the coating over time.

If this isn't a new plant, the clear sacs are certainly not spider eggs, but could be snail or slug eggs.

Hey Rockm,

I like the idea of a snail or slug. The sacs arent' on the soil but are now showing up on the trunk, and the strings of bark are getting glitterey.I know they are not fertilizer as they seem to grow into an oblong shape, and where not on the plant more than a day or two before my post.By clear i mean they shine bright white under the fluros. There is a snail friend lurking around that came with a Viburnum that is like a month new to me.I didn't know snails layed eggs.I always thought they where Asexual like earthworms. We have the Mystery snails in the fish tank.I have never seen eggs but the snails do reproduce rapidly.
