There's some controversy on the subject of watering by dunking. I personally don't do it, I water from the top only, pouring slowly to ensure that all of the soil is thoroughly wet and let it run through for a while. I am of the opinion that this allows needed air to get to the roots, while dunking causes the air to float out the top in the form of bubbles. Dunking will also cause any bark in the mix to float up and can move around the roots and cause an unanchored tree to tip over.

Thank You Soo Much!

It sounds like while I am not overwatering the soil is holding the water too well and immersing it was not helping. also they said to keep small rocks on top of the soil which is also keeping the moisure in too much I think. Going to have to repot him and clean him up. That Article was a huge help. The symptoms of ovrwatering is what he is displaying. Sounds to me like my Bonsai shop wanted a repeat customer for a 3rd time since they gave me bad info on a Juniper I bought first. I will take the rocks off tonight and repot him tomorrow. I will let you all know how he does.
