aftermath of pests

hi guys

i was wondering
the leaves that are affected by pests...aphids and caterpillrs
what do everyone here recommend?

some people are saying that i should leave it and let the tree decide what to do with it.
some say to burn the leaf to prevent spread of viruses and diseases. (or even cut it off ..in this case...whats better, Plucking it or cutting?)

i know caterpillars take chunky bites off the leaves like a snail...

but what is the outcome of a leaf from an aphid?

is it white dots? or is it HALF burnt leafs starting from the tip?

thanks guys

this would be real helpful to me...
