Wisteria
Thought I'd post pics of a Wisteria I collected today. There is one more I'm goin to collect but have to wait til I can get the chainsaw fixed. Sawzall wouldn't cut it and I ruined my folding hand saw tryin to get this one. Yea it's ugly and long but it will be cutback more if no significant dieback occurs.

Cool wisteria. Keep posting the progress. I look forward to learning from your experience.
I see a great greenhouse in the background. What is the wood framing that extend up on each side for?

Honestly, no idea. Taking a guess maybe in the 20-40 yr range. My guess is based on the amount of growth this one and the others have. From all the trunks that were in this area(behind our 2nd property) the growth(called runners) has extended and rooted well over 50 yards and has pretty much taken over a 250+ yr old Oak.

Check out the ones I posted a couple years ago. under 30 years at 24" diameter.
they were in Portsmouth VA. http://forum.bonsaitalk.com/f14/vin...473/index2.html The ones you have are wild. I don't know if this guy gave these love or just let them grow, but the trunks were HUGE. Keep us posted on their progress. -Wm |
