Yes on the vines, perhaps on the hardwood cuttings.

Don't wait - post what you need help with and let people add to the thread when they see it.

Do you know what type of "Vines" they are? This would help people respond with specifics.

I have had success with ivy cuttings off a small plant I am growing. In general, keeping the humidity up around the cutting (esp indoors in the winter where humidity can be ~10%, you want more like 60%!) I ussually cover with saran wrap. Bottom heat helps too, tho I don't ussually do this.

Try using the search function in the top menu. I just did a quick search and found this thread that may help.

The link Graydon gave is a good one. Don Ziemann helped me on my project. My best friend's parents have a vineyard in So. Oregon, and last spring were stumping old cab and merlot vines. So, they cut them off about a foot off the ground, threw them in a burn pile and left them there. My buddy was down about a week later and grabbed some for me to expiriment with. So, laid out a production line with my chain saw, exacto knife, rooting hormone and potting soil, and ended up wit 24 cuttings from 2" to 6" in diameter.

What I found is that if you still have sap flowing in the wood, just about any cutting will take. So, cut it off, clean it up with a knife, dust it with hormone and pot it in 100% unscreened pumice. Full shade the first year, misting daily - keep the bark damp.

I had some issues with a move last year, so I lost 10 of the 24. But, all remaining should be fine, and if I do it again I should have 100% success.

Pictures of the production line, some of them in a group, one merlot vine and some of the living 6 months later.

I had hoped that someone that had done this would chime in. Rlist hit the home run - very nice stuff and good explanation. I would love to have a grape like that. Good job man!

Oh, man. These things should grow like a weed where you are at. A little sulfur to keep the leaf mold away and you should be golden. PM me. We can work something out...
